The Living Model – Coming to a Western Canadian City Near You!

During the week of March 14th – 19th IMAGINiT and Autodesk will be hosting four live events in 4 Western Canadian cities, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary and Saskatoon. These events are meant to be informative, as well as a great chance to meet and network with people in both the AEC and Manufacturing industries in these cities.

I have the great pleasure to be part of the team working on the AEC side of the event, and to present on “The Living Model” (more on the Manufacturing part later).

Roadmap to Lifecycle BIM in Canada

erik

Erik Poirier will present buildingSMART Canada’s published Roadmap to Lifecycle Building Information Modeling in the Canadian AECOO Community. This roadmap is a call to action for industry stakeholders from across Canada to engage and propel the transition to open BIM-based collaborative project delivery in an attempt to improve the performance and value generated by the industry. This presentation will discuss the roadmap and its implication for industry stakeholders. It will also discuss how individuals can get involved in buildingSMART Canada and participate in this collective effort to transform our industry.

Opportunities to expand BIM education at SAIT Polytechnic

Learn what SAIT are already doing (within the multiple programs at School of Construction) and participate in a discussion about what industry feels is needed from academia.

Remember when we all called it AEC….

This is a re-post of a Blog I did for work, which is posted on the IMAGINiT Building Solutions Blog here.

If you work in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction industry then you are very familiar with the acronym “AEC” which stands for Architecture, Engineering and Construction. However those simple days of just one simple acronym seem to have passed us by. Now that we are living in a BIM world and collaboration is on everyone’s mind there have been some new acronyms going around that are trying to be more inclusive. I think the idea is that with BIM and the ability to have models be useful beyond just construction and continues being used for facilities management (or building operations) that “AEC” was not enough to get the point across anymore.
