AU 2017 – Submissions are Closed Now it’s Time to Vote!

This year Autodesk University is changing things up a little when it comes to how submissions for AU 2017 are selected. This year they are publishing all 2,136 abstracts that got submitted on or before the May 17th deadline. You can head over the Autodesk University Website to review all submissions and vote for the ones you like here.

Now to be clear – voting isn’t the only means by which submissions get selected for AU 2017 but rather another tool for the selection committee to use in ensuring the best lineup. This can be seen in the verbiage used on the voting page:

Best Practices for Revit and Enscape with Phil Read – 2 Nights Only! – May 16th @ cBIMc & May 18th @ eBIMc

Real-Time in Real-Time: Best Practices for Revit and Enscape

Presented by: Phil Read of Read | Thomas

Don’t settle for still image rendering when you can fully explore your building design from every angle and location.

Recent advances in game engines and graphics processing allows us to go from Revit to real-time in practically real time. But getting beautiful results isn’t accidental – it takes careful attention to detail often overlooked when creating still image renderings.

Let’s begin by focusing on three key areas in Revit: lighting, materials, family components. By the end of this session, you’ll be able to create beautifully compelling and time saving virtual presentations of your Revit project that improve the decision-making process of your design teams, consultants and clients.

Make sure if you are in Calgary or Edmonton on these dates that you sign-up for this free event today!

Register for cBIMc event in Calgary on Tuesday, May 16th, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm  here

Product Review: FenestraPro Premium – For Energy-Efficient and Aesthetically Pleasing Façade Design

This is a re-post I did a guest author for Tim over at the Revit Add-ons Blog.

FenestraPro – Energy Analyses and Facade Design in One Powerful Revit Add-on.

FenestraPro was born when co-founders David Palmer and Simon Whelan saw a need.

“It was through our own practice and research that we recognized the requirement a software or tool that allowed Architects to design energy efficient building and facades to achieve the required performance without compromising the aesthetic of the facade”.

  • Simon Whelan, Co- Founder / COO

The real goal of FenestraPro is to allow the Architect to have control over the facade design from an early stage of design through to completion. This goal can be seen right on the FenestraPro landing page, with the mantra: “Improve Your Design, Reduce Time & Maintain Aesthetic Control,” along with the accompanying graphic:

Book Review: Autodesk Revit 2017 Architectural Command Reference

Anyone that follows this blog knows that I’m a big fan of the Mastering Revit series of books. Don’t believe me? Then check out this post here. Of course that doesn’t mean I don’t have room on my bookshelf for different Revit books and this post is about the latest addition to said bookshelf.

Another Autodesk University, or AU as we all call it is in the books, and once again it was just me and 10,721 of my closest friends!

I will start by sharing AU2016 by the numbers (at least according to the Autodesk University Website).

AU 2016 Registration Opens Aug. 17th – Here Are Some Class Options

2016-08-16_20-08-03

The registration for this year’s University is set to open on August 17th, and when it does you will have a ton of classes to choose from in all sorts of disciplines and software. I thought I would help out with the selection process by suggesting a few classes from this year’s course catalog.

When does 22 = 4? Why At Autodesk University 2016 of Course

2016-07-01_13-12-20

The AU 2016 acceptance emails came out at the end of last week and I was lucky enough to receive one again this year! I was surprised, maybe even a little shocked, to read that I had been accepted for 4 sessions! Maybe I got 4 because AU classes are divided into four types: Instructional Demo, Hands-on Lab, Roundtable, and Industry Talk and I have a class for each type.
