Virtual AU 2021 – Submissions Closed, Voting Open!

It is that time of year again, where you see lots of posts on LinkedIn and Twitter with people sharing the class, or classes they have submitted for Autodesk University 2021. That’s right its voting time again, your chance to help shape that #AU2021 will look like! This year the voting ends on May 12th, only 12 days after the submissions closed, so better be quick to let your voice be heard. You can review all of the submitted session for this year Virtual AU HERE.

This year Autodesk University will once again be an online only event, to be held in Fall 2021 with no official dates at time for this post. The folks at AU have also said that they will be accepting less sessions this year, around 300, which is down form a typical 750 for a live event. Maybe this is because they are only offer 3 types of sessions this year; Industry Talk, Instructional Demo or Panel. No labs again this year, and also no round tables. This could also be because in general I believe there is less appetite to speak at another “virtual” event, people are ready for in-person conference to come back. Of course we all understand that waiting until in-person can be done in a safe manner for everyone, virtual events will have to due.

I know you have been waiting for it, the part where I ask you to take a look at the sessions that I submitted for AU 2021, and see if there are any you would like to vote for…well wait no more 😁

I am a big fan of Lab and Roundtable sessions I’m not going to lie, and not being able to submit this topics cut down my submission from past year to only 8.

Autodesk has also made some changes to how people can search and vote for sessions this year. In the past you could search by the speaker, this year that is not the case. This can make finding peoples sessions a little harder, I found a way around this by adding my initials (CGS) to the last “Learning Object” so people could then just search by CGS and find all my 8 sessions. It also use to be than anyone could vote, but this year you need to have an Autodesk ID, and be logged in with that ID to be able to vote. I do think this makes sense, as people with Autodesk ID are the target audience and more likely to attend a session than your Nan who saw your post on Facebook (no offense to hip Grandmothers that are still rocking Revit and attending AU’s).

So if you think any of my sessions would be a value add to the AU 2021 program you can vote using this link HERE.

Of course there a lots of great sessions to vote for, over 1200+ of them (also down from last year 2000+). You can scroll through the sessions, or search by session type, topic industry or product. I can also offer up a few sessions I have voted for that might be of interest.

I did add my vote to many more great sessions, but there is also no easy way to get back to sessions you have voted for (Recommended) which seems counter intuitive.

Anyway best of luck to everyone that has submitted a session for Virtual AU 2021!

Until Next time,
